Materials and Special Collections:
Jacaranda Public Library maintains a number of collections that serve to meet specialized needs of our customers.
The Florida Collection is comprised of several hundred books on a broad range of Sunshine State topics; e.g., local history, travel destinations, and natural heritage.
The library keeps a College and Career Collection, which is interfiled in the general reference collection. Here we have gathered materials on career development, career change, and educational opportunities. We also provide the current catalogs from most Florida colleges and universities.
In the Reader Development Collection you will find materials to support self-directed learning for improving language skills and academic achievement. High school equivalency test primers, basic readers, citizenship guides, and the like give customers options in choosing the right items for their reading level and educational objectives.
The library also provides a special Paperback Collection and Puzzles Collection that circulate on the honor system. These materials are available for use by both library cardholders and non-cardholders.
Planet Teen caters to young adults age 13 to 17. Classic teen literature rubs shoulders with contemporary graphic novels in a collection that satisfies teen tastes for education and recreation. A dedicated homework help computer complements print resources.
