Summer Reading Club June 7 - August 21, 2010
Reading Club Guidelines
1) Starting Monday, June 7, begin reading. 2) To complete the reading log, you need to finish the path. You do this by reading or being read to for “20 or more minutes each day” then coloring in “ONE” numbered picture along the path.(1 numbered circle = 1 day of reading for 20 or more minutes) 3) Return to your local library to receive a reading incentive for every seven days of reading completed. 4) Reading incentives will be given out for reading done until school starts. 5) Reading incentives will not be distributed at Selby or Jacaranda on Sundays.
The Summer Reading Club logs will be distributed starting Friday, 6/4/10.
The logs will be used by all the libraries in Sarasota County. There will be an incentive given to children for every 7 days of reading. The logs can be submitted for an incentive at any of the libraries in Sarasota County. The logs that are finished and submitted to the Gulf Gate Library for verification will get a chance to name the sea turtle adopted from Mote Marine Laboratory via a raffle.

For each 7 days of reading the child will be entered into a raffle for a “Farewell to Summer” family dinner at the library on Friday, 8/27 after hours. 20 families will be selected on 8/24 to attend the dinner. The raffle tickets will be in the family name, so get all your children reading. |

Teens will have the opportunity to do a short video or audio podcast about a particular book they read during the summer. The recorded piece must include the teen’s first name, their grade level, their school, the title, author & the number of pages of the book, and one thing about the book that they enjoyed (i.e. the story line, a character in the book, the author, etc.)
All participants will have a chance to win a $25 gift card drawn at the end of each week from June 13th through August 1st. That is 8 times to win. Teens can enter as many times as they want.
