Art Prints: Many of the handsome framed art prints hanging in the library are available to check out. Prints were a gift from the Mill Pond Press and were framed with funds from the Friends of the Library. The loan period is three months.
College and Career: Both reference and circulating materials include information on careers, test study guides (GED, SAT, GRE, occupations and others), two and four year colleges, vocational schools, study abroad, financial aid and more.
Florida Collection: Materials gathered for this collection cover all subject areas that have a special emphasis on Florida, including travel, gardening, cooking, history and biographies of famous Floridians.
Genealogy: This special section is devoted to genealogical resources in print and on CD-ROM. The library system offers 2 online databases for genealogy research and they are AncestryPlus Library Edition (for use only on any library system Internet terminal) and HeritageQuest that can be used remotely with a valid Sarasota County Library card. The library also offers a computer in the genealogy area for using the CD-ROM collection. Knowledgeable volunteers are available during daytime hours to assist library patrons with their genealogy research. The library also offers beginning genealogy classes during the winter months that are taught by one of the volunteers.
Music and Spoken Word Recordings: The library circulates musical recordings of a variety of styles and periods, recorded books and instructional tapes for foreign languages and self-help on both cassette tapes and CD-ROMs.
Videos: An extensive collection of video tapes includes movies, travel information, how-to-do-it, works of literary merit and historical value, musical events, language tutorials and the Community Video Archives selections.
