“LEMON BAY FEST”
2007 Young Adult Oral History Essay Contest and Reception

For this contest, students from Sarasota and Charlotte counties interviewed their family members and researched their family histories. In doing this, they were able to develop more of a connection with their own families and pasts.  Over 100 students participated in the contest, and a reception was held for the winners at the Elsie Quirk Library on February 5th.

This contest was sponsored by the Elsie Quirk Library, in conjunction with the Englewood Genealogical Society of Florida and the Elsie Quirk Friends of the Library.  The Elsie Quirk Library would like to give special thanks to Meg Potter of Lemon Bay High School for encouraging her students to participate.
